In the central highlands of Vietnam, a blind 60-year-old female elephant named Lam Duan has finally been rescued after years of being mistreated and neglected by her owner. For nearly a decade, Lam Duan was forced to give rides to tourists at the Dak Lak tourism site, where she was often overworked, underfed, and left to stand in her own waste.

Thanks to the efforts of the Elephant Conservation Center (ECC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abused elephants, Lam Duan was finally freed from her captivity. The ECC team worked tirelessly to secure her release and transport her to their sanctuary, where she now enjoys a peaceful life in a natural environment, surrounded by other rescued elephants.
